Spotlight on JAMS Speaker: Scott J. Silverman (Retired Judge 11th Judicial Circuit)

This first time program addresses international arbitration for maritime disputes.  It covers the history of public maritime litigation and the reasons disputants have migrated to private international arbitration as the selected method of dispute resolution.  The program is broad and covers such topics as the application of the New York Convention of 1958; discovery in international arbitration; the seat of arbitration; and the judicial jurisdiction for the enforcement or vacation of awards.  It also addresses the power of the arbitrator, the importance of scheduling orders, and the interpretation of arbitration clauses.
