The Top Six Reasons Your Class Action Settlement Wasn’t Approved
Presented by: JAMS
May 28, 2014 | 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Spotlight on JAMS Presenters: Hon. Nancy Wieben Stock (Ret.) and Hon. Peter Lichtman (Ret.)

You’ve worked hard on a class action, spent countless hours and just as much money to position it for settlement, and finally a full settlement agreement is reached. Just as your clients are anxiously awaiting relief, the judge denies the settlement and sends everyone back to the drawing board.

Before this happens to you, know you’re not alone—class action settlements are being scrutinized more now than ever before, presenting new obstacles and considerations that all plaintiff and defense attorneys need to know about.

Please join us for a complimentary presentation from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. onWednesday, May 28 on “The Top Six Reasons Your Class Action Settlement Wasn’t Approved.” Presenters Hon. Nancy Wieben Stock (Ret.) and Hon. Peter Lichtman (Ret.) will give a practical overview of the preliminary and final settlement approval process for consumer, wage and hour, and other types of class actions.

Judge Stock recently retired from the Complex Civil Litigation Panel of the Orange County Superior Court, and Judge Lichtman is a co-founder of Los Angeles County Superior Court’s Complex Civil Panel. Both presenters have significant experience presiding over and settling class actions, and can readily identify problem areas and offer expert advice on how best to avoid them.

Breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 a.m., and one hour of general CLE credit will be provided.
