New NY Neutral Will Join the JAMS Financial Markets Group
New York – Hon. Anthony J. Carpinello (Ret.), a former Associate Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, announced today he has joined JAMS, The Resolution Experts, the nation’s largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services. He will be based in the JAMS New York Resolution Center in the New York Times Building. Justice Carpinello will resolve cases in the following practice areas: business/commercial, class action, e-discovery, employment, healthcare, insurance, intellectual property, real estate, and securities, among others. In addition, he will become a member of the JAMS Financial Markets Group, a panel of neutrals highly experienced in resolving complex securities and financial markets disputes.
As both a trial judge and an appellate judge, Justice Carpinello mediated thousands of business disputes and personal injury claims in the New York State Supreme Court.

Prior to joining JAMS, as a former Associate Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Justice Carpinello participated in the adjudication of over 12,000 reported cases emanating from 28 countries in the Capital District area which include medical malpractice, personal injury, breach of contract, fraud, challenges to administrative determinations, corporate dissolutions and other categories of civil, criminal and matrimonial actions.
Justice Carpinello has also handled all aspects of civil cases including common law negligence, labor law claims, medical and legal malpractice, fraud, breach of contract and corporate dissolutions as a trial judge. Prior to being a trial and an appellate judge, he was in private practice with Hiscock & Barclay in Albany, New York for 20 years specializing in commercial litigation including banking and business matters with particular emphasis on loan documentation and collection, real estate, negotiable instruments, enterprise sales and acquisitions and general corporate advice.
Justice Carpinello is currently the Chair of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board. He is a frequent lecturer at bar association programs and CLE programs on creditor rights, mortgage foreclosures, lender liability, bankruptcy and appellate practice. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Supreme Court Justices Association and the American Inns of Court.
Justice Carpinello earned his J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School in 1973. During law school, he was a member of the Law Review. He received his B.S. from Union College in 1970.
