San Jose, CA – JAMS, The Resolution Experts, announced today that former Supervising Judge of the Civil Division of Santa Clara County Superior Court, Hon. John F. Herlihy (Ret.), joined the organization in the JAMS San Jose Resolution Center.
During his distinguished 29-year career on the bench, Judge Herlihy has managed, settled or tried thousands of the county’s most complex civil litigation cases. He has significant experience in resolving complex commercial matters and class actions. Judge Herilhy’s broad experience includes resolving disputes in a variety of practice areas including employment, insurance, intellectual property, personal injury and toxic torts, professional liability and real property.

Judge Herlihy has received numerous awards in his career including County Judge of the Year from the Santa Clara Trial Lawyers Association. He was Co-chair of the ADR Bench Bar Committee and a member of the Civil Advisory Committee, ADR Subcommittee and Case Management Subcommittee of the Judicial Council for the State of California. He has been an adjunct faculty member and lecturer in law at Santa Clara University Law School since 1984. He also created and teaches a college course in ADR for paralegals at De Anza College in Cupertino.
He earned his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of Law. He obtained a B.A., with distinction and honors, from San Jose State University.
