Hon. Clifford L. Meacham (Ret.) is a retired Cook County judge with substantial complex case management experience. He has settled or adjudicated numerous significant cases and handled all manner of construction and real estate cases. More recently, he has been Supervising Judge of the Mechanics Lien/Mortgage Foreclosure Section of the Chancery Division, and has overseen the expansion of the Section to deal with the challenge of 44,000 new mortgage foreclosure filings per year.

ADR Experience and Qualifications

Judge Meacham has extensive experience in a wide range of areas involving:
  • All phases of construction (and construction litigation);
  • All phases of mortgage foreclosure litigation (including appointment and oversight of Receivers);
  • Bankruptcy, especially Chapter 11 reorganizations;
  • Employment law; and
  • Has been appointed as the Shakman Compliance Administrator for the Sheriff of Cook County in an ongoing federal court proceeding

Representative Matters

  • Settled or adjudicated numerous significant cases, including filings involving the John Hancock Building; Millennium Park; Trump Tower; Navy Pier; O’Hare, Midway, and Palwaukee Airports; the Montravelle Condominiums; Prairie House at Central Station; three Chicago District Police Stations; and the Lincoln Park Zoo
  • Handled all manner of construction, including apartment buildings, condominiums, real estate development, shopping malls, parking garages, manufacturing facilities, recycling facilities, office buildings, nursing homes, environmental remediations, a skating rink, and a tunnel under the Des Plaines River
  • Administered thousands of cases involving residential real estate ranging from multi-million dollar homes to small construction projects
