Seattle - Respected construction attorneys James F. Nagle and Douglas S. Oles announced today that they have joined the Global Engineering and Construction Group of JAMS, The Resolution Experts, the nation’s largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services. They will be based in JAMS Seattle Resolution Center. Both Mr. Nagle and Mr. Oles have extensive experience resolving large-scale construction disputes.

Mr. Nagle is nationally renowned for his expertise in federal contracting, particularly in the area of construction contracts. He is an experienced mediator, arbitrator, litigator, teacher, and expert witness. Mr. Nagle often advises clients on ethics issues stemming from his experience as an ethics advisor in the government, culminating with his serving as Ethics Adviser with the Office of Chief of Staff of the United States Army. In addition to mediations and arbitrations involving the government and various parties, he has also served as a project neutral. He worked on major multi-party disputes involving power plants, aerospace, munitions, energy, nuclear, remediation, environmental, manufacturing, supply, and services.
Currently a Partner with the law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP in Seattle, Mr. Nagle will remain with the firm. He is a Fellow and member of the Board of Governors for the American College of Construction Lawyers. In addition, he is the Founder and past Chairman of the Public Contract Law Committee of the ABA’s General Practice Section. He is a past President of the Board of Contract Appeals Bar Association, from which he received the Life Services Award. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Contract Management Association.
Mr. Nagle earned his J.D. from Rutgers University. He holds an LL.M and an S.J.D. in government contracts from The George Washington University National Law Center, and is one of only an estimated three people who have earned the latter distinction. He received his B.S. from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Mr. Oles is recognized as a national leader in the practice of construction law and in various areas of public and private commercial contracts, with extensive experience in both litigation and transactional work. He has served as national chair of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry, the largest association of construction industry lawyers, and he has been honored as a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. Mr. Oles is a Partner with Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP and will remain with the firm.
He has arbitration experience with various types of construction disputes, and has also acted as an advocate in multiple mediations, dispute review boards, and other settlements. Representative types of projects include: defense; energy; geotechnical engineering; infrastructure; oil and gas refineries; real estate; schools; ship locks; software licensing; utilities; antibody purchase and resale contracts; Force Majeure claims; and the Federal Cost Principles and Contract Disputes Act. He has worked on cases in Europe, South America and throughout the Western United States.
Mr. Oles earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Washington and graduated from Stanford University with distinction and department honors, Phi Beta Kappa, with an A.B. in History.
