Fred G. Bennett, Esq.
is a highly regarded international practitioner with over 35 years of experience as an advocate, arbitrator and mediator of complex international and domestic disputes. Mr. Bennett is recognized for his ability to manage large, multifaceted and technical cases, and he has specialized expertise handling business/commercial, construction, mining, energy and utility, entertainment, insurance, intellectual property and real property matters. He has served as arbitrator in over 60 international and domestic arbitrations. As both an arbitrator and advocate, Mr. Bennett maintained a global practice managing complex disputes in multiple countries throughout Europe, Asia, North America, Latin America and the Middle East.

Prior to joining JAMS, Mr. Bennett had an illustrious career with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, during which time he served as chair of the firm’s worldwide ADR group and as lead counsel in numerous domestic and international arbitrations. In 1998, Mr. Bennett joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan as a senior partner and became chair of the firm’s international and U.S. arbitration practice. He is a fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, former board and executive committee member of the American Arbitration Association and a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Arbitration and ADR, North America. Mr. Bennett is regularly listed in the Guide to World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration, The Best Lawyers in America and Who’s Who Legal (Arbitration), and has received numerous recognitions as the best arbitration practitioner in North America (2010, 2013, 2014) by Lexology and the International Law Office’s Client Choice Awards.

  • Has arbitrated over 60 international and domestic disputes; as sole arbitrator or chair of tribunal; has taken approximately 25 arbitrations to hearing and award
  • Has served as advocate or arbitrator in disputes employing the rules of almost every major arbitration institution, including JAMS, the International Chamber of Commerce; American Arbitration Association; International Centre for Dispute Resolution; London Court of International Arbitration; International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID); Stockholm Chamber of Commerce; Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre; Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC); China International Economic and Trade Commission; Japan Arbitration Association; national arbitration statutes of countries in Europe, South America and Asia; and ad hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL
  • Serves on the panel of multiple international institutions, including the Singapore International Arbitration Centre; International Chamber of Commerce panel for commercial and construction disputes; and formerly the panel of the American Arbitration Association and International Centre for Dispute Resolution commercial, construction and aerospace panels
