Judge Ryan has successfully mediated and arbitrated a wide variety of disputes including hundreds of personal injury/tort disputes since stepping down from his position as an Administrative Judge in 1992. Judge Ryan has been appointed to serve as a Master by both the federal and state court for purposes of fact-finding, discovery oversight, and settlement facilitation. He has authored a guide to mediation and arbitration practice, and has served as an instructor in numerous seminars on mediation, arbitration, case management, and ethics.

  • Facilitated the settlement of numerous wrongful death and personal injury claims involving allegations of deficient care at nursing homes
  • Facilitated the settlement of thousands of asbestos-related personal injury and property damage claims as Special Master appointed by both the federal and state courts

  • Mediated settlement of numerous claims concerning personal injuries occurring on construction sites, involving cross claims for indemnity and contribution between general contractors and subcontractors and compromise of workers’ compensation and health care liens
  • Mediation of environmental illness claims involving exposure to lead paint, mold, latex, formaldehyde, and other substances
  • Mediation of numerous workers compensation claims, F.E.L.A. claims, maritime and admiralty claims, and allegations of wrongful denial of benefits under both group and private disability insurance policies
  • Mediation of products liability and breach of warranty claims against manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of various machinery and equipment
