Hon. Jeffrey King (Ret.)

T: 909-942-5942
F: 909-889-2162

Hon. Jeffrey King (Ret.) joined JAMS following 21 years of distinguished judicial service. He served most recently as an associate justice for the Fourth Appellate District, Division Two, of the California Court of Appeal. Prior to his appellate appointment, he was a San Bernardino County Superior Court judge for eight years.

Justice King is an experienced jurist with a deep understanding of the law and nuances involved in resolving disputes at every stage of litigation, and he prepares extensively for each case he handles.

Justice King is able to see the strengths and weaknesses of all sides to a dispute and foster resolution among even the most intractable parties. He handled numerous mediations while on the appellate bench and is adept at settling cases on appeal. Justice King, who understands the numerous standards of review, is well-suited to providing neutral analysis of appellate cases, as he knows what works and what doesn’t in the process. He is also able to keep control of the case management process and writes researched and well-reasoned legal opinions.

While on the superior court bench, Justice King served as a member of the Administrative Committee of the San Bernardino County Coordinated Courts for two years, as well as the Superior Court Appellate Division. He was also assigned the long cause civil calendar for four years, and handled fast track civil and probate calendars, along with the county's CEQA litigation.

Prior to his judicial service, Justice King spent 19 years practicing civil litigation, which included plaintiffs’ personal injury work and representing government entities in tort liability matters.
