Martin Quinn is a highly experienced international mediator. He has mediated well over 1,000 complex business disputes since joining JAMS in 1995, many of which were international. Mr. Quinn readily manages cross-cultural differences, carefully assessing the needs and emotions of non-U.S. parties and counsel in resolving complex international disputes.

Representative Matters

  • Special Master/Discovery Referee:
    • Managed discovery in a federal case alleging infringement of intellectual property rights in video game software and hardware by a Taiwanese company
    • Managed discovery in a federal case alleging mistreatment of garment workers in Asian-based factories of U.S. firms
    • Managed discovery, and then conducted settlement discussions leading to resolution, in a dispute in federal court among shareholders of a Guam-based bank
    • Managed discovery in a California state court case alleging unfair competition and fraud between U.S. and Israeli corporations and individuals
    • Managed discovery in an insurance coverage dispute over asbestos liability between a U.S. corporation and London market insurers
  • Mediation:
    • Settled a trade secret dispute between U.S. and Israeli telecommunications companies
    • Settled a dispute over spilled cargo between a U.S. chemical company and a Japanese shipping line
    • Settled a patent licensing dispute between a U.S software company and a Japanese distributor of electronic products
    • Settled dispute between a Chilean winery and a U.S. importer of fine wines
    • Settled dispute between U.S. franchisees and their Dutch parent company that provided temporary staffing for accounting personnel over brand name and other issues in the franchise relationship
    • Settled software licensing dispute between Russian and U.S. computer game manufacturers and distributors
    • Settled consumer class action alleging mislabeling and false advertising against a U.K manufacturer of leisure shoes and sandals
