Throughout his legal career, Judge Mayeda has litigated, tried, presided over, and settled a vast variety of complex business and commercial disputes. Since joining JAMS as a mediator and arbitrator, he has utilized his settlement skills to resolve many complex commercial disputes and has rendered numerous decisions as an arbitrator, judge pro tem, and discovery referee.

  • Acted as pro tem judge in trial between two companies regarding the development, manufacture, and sale of specialty cement
  • Arbitrated business dissolution among four brothers who owned several businesses and numerous real estate properties
  • Mediated and arbitrated multiple matters involving legal malpractice and attorney billing
  • Mediated matter between shopping mall developer and owner of mall's anchor store
  • Presided over multi-day hearing regarding the largest toxic spill in L.A. Harbor history
  • Served as a discovery referee in an international financing dispute involving a loan of over $150 million and paid loan fees of $3.5 million
  • Successfully mediated dispute over the loss of a multi-million dollar government healthcare contract
  • Successfully mediated ownership and damage dispute between rental car companies dealing in extremely high end vehicles
