MIAMI – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of former circuit court judge Victoria Platzer to its panel. Ms. Platzer will serve clients in the southeast, including Atlanta and Miami, where she will act as a mediator, arbitrator and special master for JAMS in the areas of business/commercial, construction, employment, insurance, family law, medical malpractice, personal injury/torts, real property and e-discovery.
Ms. Platzer joins JAMS after 18 years as a circuit court judge in Miami-Dade County and, since 2013, as a mediator, arbitrator and special master in private practice. Her background as a police officer, private practitioner and judge has given her a unique perspective on a vast array of issues.
Ms. Platzer is lauded for her diligent preparation, professionalism and integrity as a neutral. Her notable background will bring a valuable perspective to our panel in Miami, and we are eager for her to join the team.
-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO
With her expertly honed evaluative approach, Ms. Platzer has presided over hundreds of jury and non-jury trials involving complex legal issues and has mediated over 1,000 cases. Her approach has consistently proven successful in bringing parties to resolution through a thorough assessment of the elements of each case.
As a judge, being the conduit for litigants to resolve disputes in a court of law, especially through jury trials, was especially rewarding. As a mediator, being the conduit for litigants to resolve disputes in a different arena has been equally satisfying. I look forward to continuing this work alongside the talented JAMS panelists in Miami, Atlanta and other areas where JAMS has a presence.
-Victoria Platzer, Retired Judge, JAMS Neutral
Ms. Platzer earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Florida Atlantic University before receiving her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.
