Hon. Vanessa A. Zecher (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Silicon Valley

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/discovery referee and judge pro tem

New Panelist Announcement

Silicon Valley, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Vanessa A. Zecher (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Zecher joins JAMS following over a decade of service as a judge on the Santa Clara County Superior Court, where she most recently served as a judge in the Family Law Division.

As a Santa Clara County Family Court judge, Judge Zecher managed myriad family law cases, including high-asset property characterization and division, financial support and child custody. She has conducted countless judicially supervised settlement conferences, where she assisted families in resolving their disputes to let them move forward without the financial and emotional burdens of the court process. During her time on the bench, she applied her background in handling civil cases to the criminal court to assist in complex discovery (including e-discovery) and calendar management.

Based in the Silicon Valley Resolution Center, Judge Zecher will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/discovery referee and judge pro tem, handling family law, business/commercial and real estate/real property cases. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Judge Zecher has an extensive track record handling matters relating to custody and visitation, domestic violence, premarital agreements and spousal support, among many others. She is committed to using the ADR process and providing judicial guidance and direction to help parties reach efficient and timely resolutions.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

As a lawyer, Judge Zecher tried cases in federal and state courts and served as a court-appointed civil arbitrator and early neutral evaluator in general civil matters. She established her own family law firm and served as minor’s counsel. In addition, she served as a discovery referee and private attorney mediator in family law matters. Prior to becoming a judge, she was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the Santa Clara County Family Court.

It is a passion of mine to help litigants and families find a way out of conflict and to assist them in reaching a resolution that avoids the time, expense, pressure and delay associated with ongoing litigation.

- Hon. Vanessa A. Zecher (Ret.)

Judge Zecher earned her B.A and J.D. from Santa Clara University.
