Mediation and Arbitration as a Career Path
March 19, 2020 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
As the costs of litigation rise and the uncertainty of outcomes in jury trials are a given, arbitration and mediation are rising in popularity as a means to resolve legal disputes efficiently. However, as the legal landscape becomes more diverse in terms of the litigants and their counsel, there is a need for arbitrators and mediators who are culturally aware and can bring parties towards a mutually (sometimes unsatisfactory) result. Enhancing diversity in alternate dispute resolution is key to bringing a sense of justice and resolution to disputes. This session will explore the state of diversity in the mediation and arbitration arena, what it takes to build an effective mediation/arbitration practice, and how to develop diversity competency to become an effective mediator/arbitrator.
