Judge Gonzalez (Ret.) has more than 28 years of judicial experience handling intellectual property disputes. As a U.S. Magistrate judge for six years, she presided over
Markman claim construction hearings. While on the U.S. District Court bench in the Southern District of California, she oversaw matters involving patent, trademark, and copyright issues in a wide variety of industries, including biotechnology, computing, medical, electronics, telecommunications, and clothing. Additionally, Judge Gonzalez participated in a congressionally funded pilot program aimed at giving federal judges in select districts intensive experience handling patent claims. She was also involved in developing new patent rules for the Southern District of California.
