From 1990 to 1993, Judge Kennedy was Supervising Judge of the Family Law Departments in the San Bernardino Courthouse. During that time, he also managed his own direct calendar caseload, handling on average about thirty contested matters a day for 3-1/2 years.
Managing such a voluminous caseload required Judge Kennedy to mediate most of his matters. Averaging at least three mediations a day, Judge Kennedy handled more than 2,000 mediations during his time as Supervising Judge, dealing with the full range of family law issues.
Judge Kennedy was invited to speak at the California Judges Association's Retired Judge Conference in March 2001 on the subject, "Managing Complex Cases."
He also was invited to speak to the American Bar Association in Washington, D.C. in April 2001 on the topic of understanding personality types in mediation.
