Judge Kough joined JAMS following a distinguished 13-year career in the Los Angeles courts. During her final two years on the Los Angeles County Superior Court bench, she was one of seven judges in the Complex Litigation pilot program where she was responsible for managing, trying, and otherwise resolving the most complicated multi-party civil matters. A member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Masters, Judge Kough is well-equipped to save counsel and parties time and money by streamlining even the most complex cases and discovery processes.

  • Business interference matters involving several large competing shopping centers with e-discovery issues such as metadata, search parameters, shadow hard drives, computer experts, and allocation of costs
  • Discovery referee for class action product liability lawsuit regarding dental bonding agent
  • Discovery referee for complex construction matter involving airport remodel
  • Discovery referee for toxic cleanup dispute between city and numerous oil companies regarding gasoline additive found in groundwater
  • Discovery referee in multi-million-dollar dispute over business interference involving major shopping malls
  • Matter involving private equity investment in designer closet company
  • Multi-million-dollar construction defect matter, including extensive discovery issues
  • Referee on commercial insurance dispute involving bad faith claim
  • Special master in determination of application of attorney-client privilege to document produced and possible claw back of document
  • Special master in federal court action involving television industry
  • Trial judge in consumer dispute, which included extensive discovery issues, over compliance with environmental laws concerning transportation, storage, and loading of coal products in two major seaports
  • Trial judge in disputes over mold and other toxic substances allegedly found in large apartment complexes, with cases involving extensive discovery issues
