Martin Quinn, as a trial lawyer for over 25 years, represented policyholders and insurers about equally in hundreds of coverage disputes. His experience covers almost every type of insurance policy including general liability, life, health, disability, errors and omissions, directors and officers, workers compensation, reinsurance -- even ocean marine pools. Mr. Quinn has special expertise in environmental coverage and bad faith issues. As a mediator with JAMS, Mr. Quinn has settled dozens of significant coverage disputes in many contexts.

  • Acted as a discovery referee in dispute between aluminum company and dozens of insurers over coverage for asbestos bodily injury and premises claims
  • Acted as discovery referee in statewide class action alleging improper reserving practices by workers compensation carrier
  • Arbitrated dispute over coverage for attorneys' fees incurred to defend environmental contamination actions
  • Settled dispute as to coverage under a directors and officers policy for attorneys' fees incurred in a securities fraud action
  • Settled dispute between a Bay Area city and a workers compensation carrier over alleged improper reserving and claim handling
  • Settled dispute between major oil company and insurer over coverage for deaths and injuries at overseas construction site
  • Settled dispute between physician and malpractice carrier over coverage for alleged sexual harassment
  • Settled many lawsuits seeking disability benefits, damages for bad faith and punitive damages
  • Settled two pending appeals of coverage disputes arising out of a serious personal injury on a construction site
