Hon. Jon M. Mayeda (Ret.) is well regarded by both fellow judges and attorneys who have appeared before him. Prior to his 26 years of distinguished service on the Los Angeles Superior and Municipal Courts, he was a deputy attorney in both the civil and criminal law branches of the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney. During his most recent 13 years on the bench, from 1994 to 2007, including his ten years as a civil “fast track” trial judge, he heard a broad range of civil litigation.

ADR Experience and Qualifications

  • A strong proponent of amicable resolutions to disputes, he set aside one day each week at the Los Angeles Superior Court for settlement conferences
  • Conducted approximately 2,000 settlement conferences during his civil assignment
  • Known for his excellent listening ability and for initiating open communications with all parties which lead to the formulation of constructive resolutions
