Event Resolving Family Law Disputes Through ADR

You’re invited to “Resolving Family Law Disputes Through ADR,” a complimentary breakfast CLE program. It has been approved by the State Bar of Georgia for one hour of CLE credit, including one hour of professionalism credit.

As you may know, JAMS and the Women in the Profession section of the Atlanta Bar Association jointly sponsor a CLE program each October, in celebration of Mediation Week. This year, the Family Law section has graciously agreed to join this effort. This year’s program will address best practices in using mediation and judicially hosted settlement conferences to resolve family law disputes.

While the actual topics for discussion will be generated by participants, some of the preliminary suggestions we have received include:

  • In preparing for a mediation, are there key considerations practitioners should bear in mind?
  • Is there truly an optimal time to mediate a domestic relations dispute?
  • How can counsel construct the mediation session to enhance their chances of success?
  • Are there benefits to drawing up a settlement agreement on all resolved issues, and then litigating all remaining issues?
