Experts in the field will provide attendees with updates and pertinent insights into the practice of arbitration in Africa.

Panel 7 – International developments in mediation and their implications for the continent

This panel will explore important and cutting-edge issues in cross-border mediation, such as (i) the recent signing of the Singapore Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation; (ii) investor-state mediation; (iii) the experience of international arbitration centers with mediation, “stepped” ADR clauses and hybrid processes such as Arb-Med-Arb; and (iv) the results of the Global Pound Conference Series Report on Global Data Trends and Regional Differences in ADR. The panel will conclude by drawing out key implications for mediation by offering predictions for the future and suggestions for best practices.
