Hon. Mark Gibbons (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Las Vegas

Former retired chief justice joins JAMS as arbitrator and mediator

New Panelist Announcement

Las Vegas – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Mark Gibbons (Ret.) to its panel. Justice Gibbons joins JAMS following a judicial career spanning two decades, including 18 years on the Supreme Court of Nevada and six years on the Eighth Judicial District Court of Clark County. Chief Justice and Justice Mark Gibbons was the longest-serving member of the Supreme Court of Nevada upon his retirement.

Justice Gibbons regularly received top marks for “Judicial Performance” on the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s annual survey of lawyers. As a district court judge, he was known for his record-setting number of jury trials and for his role on the Business Court Task Force Committee of the Supreme Court of Nevada, which created the model for the district court business courts specializing in business and corporate litigation.

Based in the Las Vegas Resolution Center, Justice Gibbons will serve as an arbitrator and mediator handling disputes in appellate, business and commercial, construction, employment, insurance, personal injury and torts, real property, administration law, engineering and construction, and pharmaceutical and mass torts. Justice Gibbons is also available to serve in alternate trials.

Justice Gibbons is recognized for his leadership skills, patience and attention to detail. With his deep commitment to the legal process and his passion for resolving disputes, he will make an excellent addition to JAMS panel in Las Vegas.

- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Prior to his service on the bench, Justice Gibbons focused his private law practice primarily on litigation, including construction disputes, mechanic’s liens and corporate governance. He was trial counsel for more than 100 bench trials. He has also been trial counsel for a number of jury trials, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

The experience I’ve gained throughout the years, combined with my determination to truly understand all of the elements in a case, has prepared me for this next step in my career. Joining the JAMS panel is something that feels very natural to me. I’m grateful for this opportunity to join JAMS as a neutral and help parties resolve their disputes.

- Hon. Mark Gibbons (Ret.)

Justice Gibbons received his B.A. from University of California, Irvine and his J.D. from Loyola University School of Law.
