Hon. Anil C. Singh (Ret.) Joins JAMS in New York
New York – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Anil C. Singh (Ret.) has joined its panel in New York. Justice Singh joins JAMS after serving many years as a jurist on both the New York state and New York City benches.
Most recently, Justice Singh served as an associate justice in the Appellate Division, First Department, Supreme Court of the State of New York from 2017 to 2025. In 2023, he was further elevated by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to serve as a member of the state’s Constitutional Bench. He was also a judge with the Supreme Court of the State of New York from 2013 to 2017 and was appointed to the Commercial Division in 2015. Justice Singh additionally worked as an acting judge with the Supreme Court of the State of New York from 2010 to 2012. He holds the proud distinction of being the first South Asian individual to sit on an appellate and supreme court in the state of New York.
Based in the New York Resolution Center , Justice Singh will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, personal injury, professional liability, employment, real estate and real property, insurance, class action and mass tort, and administrative law matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

Justice Singh began his career as a jurist on the Civil Court of the City of New York, where he presided from 2003 to 2012 over jury, non-jury and small claims cases, including commercial, personal injury/torts, consumer credit, real estate and real property (including commercial landlord-tenant cases) and insurance disputes. From 1987 to 2002, he served as principal court attorney to Judge Alice Schlesinger during her tenure on both the Supreme Court and the Civil Court.

Justice Singh earned his J.D. from the Antioch School of Law and his B.A. from Lawrence University.
