- Means that neutrals might use to encourage participants in mediations or judicially hosted settlement conferences to feel greater responsibility for the health and success of mediated negotiations
- Means for reducing the risk of false failure in negotiations -- in part by capitalizing on what social science has taught us about how to negotiate most productively
