Los Angeles, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is honored to announce it has been awarded by Legal Aid of Los Angeles (LAFLA) with the Corporate Achievement Award. This accolade recognizes the contributions of JAMS and the JAMS Foundation in supporting collaborative processes for resolving differences and promoting innovation in conflict resolution, and the dedication of hundreds of hours of pro bono services by many JAMS mediators and arbitrators.
“Not-for-profit programs such as LAFLA are integral to the well-being of our community,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “We proudly support our neutrals selfless pro bono work, and are delighted to know that LAFLA acknowledges our organization’s efforts.”
The Corporate Achievement Award was presented to Chris Poole, President and Chief Executive Officer of JAMS on behalf of LAFLA by Paul Salvaty, President of LAFLA’s Board of Directors at the fifteenth annual Access to Justice Dinner on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The gala Access to Justice Dinner provides an opportunity for LAFLA and its “Partners in Equal Justice” to pay well-deserved tribute to the evening’s distinguished honorees while also supporting LAFLA’s dedicated staff in their efforts to ensure that the community’s poorest and most vulnerable residents are not denied access to the civil justice system because of their poverty.
“LAFLA is proud to honor JAMS with the Corporate Achievement Award in recognition of the contributions of JAMS and the JAMS Foundation in promoting collaborative conflict resolution, its dedication of hundreds of hours of pro bono services by many JAMS neutrals, and its corporate commitment to diversity in the workplace,” said Silvia R. Argueta, LAFLA Executive Director.
More than 500 members of the legal community including local law firms, corporate counsel and members of the judiciary attended the event to celebrate those individuals and law firms in the community who embody the mission of LAFLA through their services.
LAFLA serves as L.A.’s frontline law firm for poor and low-income people, and raises funds to help sustain LAFLA’s programs and services that afford access to justice to individuals and families in poor and low-income households endangered by domestic violence, slum housing, lack of access to medical care, and other deprivations of poverty.
