LOS ANGELES – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that Hon. Dickran M. Tevrizian (Ret.) received the 2015 Alumni Merit Award from the University of Southern California.
The award is given to individuals whose remarkable accomplishments speak well for the range and quality of a USC education. Past alumni award recipients include Frank Gehry, Marilyn Horne, Taylor Hackford, Rod Dedeaux and Olympians Janet Evens, Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Soni and Louis Zamperini.
“This is a wonderful testament to Judge Tevrizian and all the outstanding work he has done over his career,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “We’re thrilled for the recognition from USC and congratulate Judge Tevrizian on this honor.”
Judge Tevrizian is best known for his ability for bringing disparate groups together in even the most difficult situations when parties are unyielding. He takes an active role in case management and in settling cases. He served 31 years of his 41-year legal career on both the federal and the state trial courts, with his most recent 21 years on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. In 2001, Judge Tevrizian helped establish the Dickran Tevrizian Fund at USC Gould School of Law to provide need-based scholarships to disadvantaged students pursuing legal education. Four years later, the USC Institute of Armenian Studies honored him for 32 years of public service and his support of the institute.
