Boston – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that John B. Miller, Esq., LL.M., Ph.D., has joined its panel. Dr. Miller joins with more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry as a globally recognized attorney, professor of civil engineering, evaluator, arbitrator and mediator.
Dr. Miller was the managing member of Ironside Law Group LLC and Ironside Strategies LLC from 2015 to 2025. He also practiced law for more than a decade in Boston and Washington, D.C., with Gadsby & Hannah, where he served as a managing partner. He served on the faculty at MIT’s Center for Construction Research & Education (CCRE) for 15 years. He worked as of counsel at Patton Boggs, leading the firm’s international construction projects group. As a seasoned ADR professional, he has helped parties develop innovative strategies and manage projects, drawing on his decades of private and public experience.
Based in the Boston Resolution Center, Dr. Miller will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, court-appointed neutral (special master/referee) and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, construction, engineering, and international and cross-border matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

Dr. Miller was a reporter for the American Bar Association’s 2007 Model Code for Public Infrastructure Procurement, helping to establish standards that have guided public projects across the United States. He has also advised the United Nations, Inter-American Development Bank and Federal Reserve System on procurement strategies. He previously served as an associate professor and assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at MIT from 1995 to 2002. He is a fellow of the American Bar Association (ABA), ABA Section of Public Contract Law and American College of Construction Lawyers. He is also a prolific writer, having authored books and several papers on infrastructure.

Dr. Miller earned his B.S. in civil engineering, M.S. in soil mechanics and Ph.D. in infrastructure systems from MIT and his J.D. and LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law.
