DALLAS – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hugh Hackney, Esq. to its panel. Mr. Hackney will be based in the JAMS Dallas Resolution Center and serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Antitrust, Business/Commercial, Class Action/Mass Tort, Employment, Energy/Utility, Engineering and Construction, Family Law, Insurance and Pharmaceuticals/Mass Torts.
Mr. Hackney is a former litigation attorney who tried more than 200 cases during his 45-year career and also chaired the international dispute resolution group of his former law firm. He is renowned for his expertise in arbitrating and mediating disputes, particularly those involving complex commercial matters and international litigants. He is also highly regarded for resolving disputes arising out of the energy industry, due to his involvement in oil and gas arbitrations domestically and across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. U.S.-based judicial officers also frequently appoint him to settle cases featuring cross-border parties.
“His experience with venues abroad gives him an understanding of how legal issues are handled differently in courts and arbitral forums across the globe, which makes him a highly effective neutral,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “He can provide a clear picture of how a case could proceed outside of settlement, regardless of jurisdiction. We know he will make a great addition to our panel.”
“I have enjoyed working with parties to help them resolve their complex, commercial, international and energy-related cases and am excited to continue doing this important work with JAMS and its esteemed panel in Dallas,” said Mr. Hackney. “I look forward to serving the community in this new role.”
Mr. Hackney received his B.A. from Southern Methodist University and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Arbitration, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the London Court of International Arbitration, the International Bar Association, and the Society of International Business Fellows.
