Irvine, Calif. – The JAMS Foundation is proud to continue its support of the Divided Community Project’s (DCP) Bridge Initiative with a $100,000 donation enabling the project to continue its mission to expand mediation and conflict resolution initiatives across the country. The DCP was created to provide communities grappling with increasing civil unrest and tension with experts who can assist local government, law enforcement and community leaders as they work to mediate conflict.
Based at Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law, the DCP’s Bridge Initiative (Bridge Initiative @ Moritz) is multi-pronged program that helps communities address issues leading to polarization and fosters collaborative approaches for transforming community division into positive action. The DCP brings together a broad coalition of dispute resolution professionals, government leaders, law enforcement officials, community organizers and other interested stakeholders across the country.
The Divided Community Project provides public officials and community leaders with much-needed resources and technical support to plan for potential civil unrest and to respond constructively to violent social conflict that does erupt. Especially with all that has transpired recently, we recognize that this program can play an integral role helping communities respond to conflict and address these deep divisions within our country.

The JAMS Foundation’s support of the DCP began in 2016, with a two-year grant to support process development, implementation and dissemination of resources through pilot programs in select cities nationwide. The Foundation has continued its funding of these efforts each year to build upon the success of the DCP’s initiatives expand resources to communities working to address polarization and promote conflict resolution. This latest contribution brings the overall contribution to $1 million over the last five years.
