Roderick “Rod” M. Thompson, Esq., Joins JAMS in San Francisco

Former trial lawyer joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

San Francisco – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Rod Thompson, Esq., to its panel. Mr. Thompson joins JAMS with more than 30 years’ experience serving as an ADR neutral as a compliment to his full-time commercial trial practice.  He spent the last 20 years as a trial partner at a midsize Bay Area law firm known for its success in high-stakes commercial litigation and willingness to represent both plaintiffs and defendants. Prior to that, he was an associate and then partner at a large international law firm, where he specialized in antitrust, competition and intellectual property litigation.

Based in the San Francisco Resolution Center, Mr. Thompson will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator, handling disputes in business and commercial matters, cybersecurity and privacy, employment, health care, intellectual property and entertainment and sports.

Mr. Thompson brings his experience as a commercial trial lawyer and advocate to his role as a neutral. Throughout his career, he has sharpened his ability to listen and understand the underlying interests and merits of the parties’ positions. We’re looking forward to having him bring this expertise to the panel in San Francisco.

- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Throughout his career, Mr. Thompson served as a neutral arbitrator, mediator and early neutral evaluator as time permitted. As a mediator, he believes that confidentiality and flexibility make mediation an effective tool for resolving commercial disputes. As arbitrator, he manages even in the most complicated and challenging disputes to ensure that the parties have the benefit of an efficient and fair adjudicative process and a fully informed, justified and understandable decision.

I am grateful for the opportunity to advance my career by now serving exclusively as a panelist at JAMS. Whether it’s a mediation or an arbitration, my deep experience serving as both advocate and neutral in these proceedings enables me to be knowledgeable, efficient and fair in resolving commercial disputes effectively.

- Rod Thompson, Esq., JAMS Mediator and Arbitrator

Mr. Thompson received his B.A. from Trinity College and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
