Hon. Brian C. Walsh (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Silicon Valley

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator, mediator, neutral evaluator and special master/referee

New Panelist Announcement

Silicon Valley – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Brian C. Walsh (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Walsh joins JAMS after serving two decades as a judge in Santa Clara County Superior Court and 25 years as a litigator in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Judge Walsh was the presiding judge of the Santa Clara County Superior Court from 2013 to 2014 and, by appointment of the chief justice, served on the Sixth District Court of Appeal for two years, where he authored over 100 opinions. For the last four years, he presided over complex civil litigation, where he handled cases involving some of Silicon Valley’s largest companies, such as Apple, Cisco, Google/Alphabet and HP, hearing complex business, securities, employment, product liability, internet privacy and trade secret cases.

Based in the Silicon Valley Resolution Center, Judge Walsh will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, neutral evaluator and special master/referee, handling antitrust and competition, business and commercial, mass torts, professional liability, insurance, intellectual property, employment, personal injury and torts, government and public agency, cybersecurity and privacy, securities and banking disputes. He is available to conduct in-person as well as virtual proceedings nationwide.

Judge Walsh has extensive knowledge of ADR and a great deal of experience conducting settlement conferences and mediations. “Because of his background and his reputation for his honesty and integrity, we are confident that he will thrive as a JAMS neutral.

- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Walsh was the managing partner of McTernan, Stender, Walsh, Weingus & Tondreau. He has extensive experience conducting settlement conferences and resolving discovery disputes, as well as presiding over cases from start to finish.

I believe with the right attitude, plenty of patience and the ability to listen to the parties, matters can be successfully resolved. I’m eager to apply my knowledge and begin working as a panelist at JAMS.

- Hon. Brian C. Walsh (Ret.)

Judge Walsh received his B.A. from University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from the UC Berkeley School of Law.
