JAMS Foundation News

Irvine, Calif. – The JAMS Foundation is pleased to present the 13th Annual Warren Knight Distinguished Service Award to Hands of Peace, along with a $25,000 grant. The award recognizes Hands of Peace’s ongoing work to empower American, Israeli and Palestinian youth to become agents of change in their communities. The award will be presented virtually by the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution on April 16 as part of the 2021 Dispute Resolution Spring Conference.

Created in memory of the founder of JAMS, H. Warren Knight, the Warren Knight Distinguished Service Award and grant recognizes the work of extraordinary individuals and organizations in advancing collaborative forms of dispute resolution and peaceful resolution of conflict.

Hands of Peace is an interfaith, nonprofit organization that brings together American, Israeli and Palestinian youth for educational programs that feature intensive dialogue and interaction to build trust, understanding and a commitment to peace through shared humanity. By creating a space where empathy and compassion can flourish, Hands of Peace works to build a network of young advocates with the critical thinking, conflict resolution and peacebuilding skills needed to ignite social change.

We honor the incredibly important work Hands of Peace is undertaking in providing the next generation of leaders with the skills needed to create a more tolerant and peaceful world.

- David Brandon, Managing Director of the JAMS Foundation

Our work is to help youth understand their individual and collective power to build peaceful communities through dialogue, education and action. We are grateful for the JAMS Foundation’s support as we continue this work with an eye toward sustainable global change.

- Scott Rasmussen, Executive Director of Hands of Peace.
