Elizabeth Carter, Esq., is a senior vice president of operations at JAMS. In this capacity, she is responsible for driving operational efficiency and strategic growth. Ms. Carter also provides executive oversight for case administration and real estate for JAMS national and global ADR services, ensuring a seamless and high-quality service experience across the firm’s physical, virtual, hybrid and administrative infrastructure.
A decisive and people-focused leader, Ms. Carter has a proven record of strengthening business performance by empowering high-performing, multidisciplinary teams. Her approach balances operational consistency with the flexibility required to meet the unique needs of the legal community. With deep expertise in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), she serves as a key liaison to the General Counsel’s office regarding administrative determinations and preliminary rule applications for individual arbitration matters.
Previously, Ms. Carter served as vice president and director of operations for the East/Central Region, as well as general manager of the New York Resolution Center and business manager of the Chicago Resolution Center. This progression has given her an unmatched understanding of the functional and strategic requirements of managing large-scale ADR operations.
Before joining JAMS, Ms. Carter was a litigator in Wisconsin and Ohio. She earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School. She is a member of the state bars of Illinois and Wisconsin. An active leader in the legal community, she serves as the membership officer for the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution and is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers. She frequently writes and speaks on arbitration, mediation, and the evolution of the hybrid workplace.
