Implementing the New DFS Cybersecurity Regulation

Implementing the New DFS Cybersecurity Regulation

Presented By: The Cardozo Data Law Initiative

About the Event

On March 1, 2017, a new cybersecurity regulation promulgated by the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS) went into effect, a regulation that DFS has characterized as a “first-in-the-nation” regulation that requires regulated entities to “establish and maintain a cybersecurity program designed to protect consumers’ private data and ensure the safety and soundness of New York’s financial services industry.” Our distinguished panelists will discuss the genesis and context of the regulation, what companies need to do to comply, and any ambiguities or difficulties with the regulation that may need to be addressed going forward.
