Valuation disputes can place appraisers in critical roles, from providing objective testimony to supporting resolution in mediation or arbitration. This session will explore how appraisers can navigate these roles effectively while maintaining credibility and professionalism.

Judge Judith H. Ramseyer (Ret.), JAMS, will join Michelle DeLappe and Annie Barouh of Fox Rothschild LLP to discuss practical approaches for appraisers engaged in litigation and dispute resolution. Drawing on her years as a King County Superior Court judge and her current work as a mediator and arbitrator at JAMS, Judge Ramseyer will offer insight into the standards courts and neutrals expect from appraisal testimony and the ways appraisers can support constructive negotiation.

Topics will include real-world examples of when appraisal testimony crossed into advocacy, strategies for objective and credible analysis, and skills for assisting clients during mediation. Attendees will gain actionable tools to strengthen their role in disputes and contribute more effectively to resolution.
