ACTLA 10th Circuit Regional Meeting

Presented by the American College of Trial Lawyers

During the American College of Trial Lawyers's 10th Circuit Regional Meeting, Hon. William F. Downes (Ret.) will join a panel to explore how science and law intersect in managing and protecting iconic wildlife.

Drawing on decades of experience, wildlife experts Angus Thuermer, Jr., Dr. Christopher Servheen, and Dr. Douglas Smith will discuss the impact of the Endangered Species Act and other federal and state legislation on the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone and the recovery of the grizzly bear. They will be joined by jurists who played a direct role in wolf reintroduction litigation three decades ago—Hon. Robert H. Henry, Hon. William F. Downes, and Hon. Scott W. Skavdahl—for a candid conversation on the legal, scientific, and policy dimensions of these landmark conservation efforts.
