VIEW MAP »Join JAMS neutral, Lita M. Popke, Retired Judge, Wayne County Circuit Court, at the 2026 Cannabis Law Institute for a panel discussing Business Disputes Better Left Out of Court: ADR in the Cannabis Industry. Hosted by the International Cannabis Bar Association (INCBA), the Cannabis Law Institute is widely regarded as the premier annual conference dedicated exclusively to cannabis law, bringing together attorneys, regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders to examine the rapidly evolving legal and business landscape surrounding cannabis and hemp.
Taking place June 17–18, 2026, at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, CLI2026 will feature two days of substantive programming focused on emerging legal developments, compliance, corporate governance, litigation risk, federal policy changes, and the growing sophistication of the cannabis industry.
During the session, Business Disputes Better Left Out of Court: ADR in the Cannabis Industry, panelists will explore how courts nationwide continue to wrestle with the illegality doctrine, adding uncertainty to the existing risks of litigation in public courts. As commercial cannabis entities increasingly recognize the value of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including arbitration and mediation, experienced practitioners will discuss the unique advantages ADR presents for cannabis businesses, as well as strategic considerations surrounding dispute resolution in the industry.
