    Background and Education

    Honorable Jeffrey K. Holmes (Ret.) joined JAMS in Denver after an illustrious 16-year tenure as a district court judge in the 18th Judicial District of Colorado. During his time as a judge, he presided over a wide array of cases, encompassing civil, domestic, criminal and probate matters. The 18th Judicial District spans four counties representing diverse urban, suburban and rural communities, all of which Judge Holmes diligently served. Before his appointment as a judge, he served as a district court magistrate for several years.

    Prior to his appointment to the court, Judge Holmes practiced law for 17 years, with an emphasis on litigation. He handled a variety of civil and criminal cases and participated in over 100 jury trials. He represented clients in mediations and arbitrations as well as in court.

    Throughout his tenure, Judge Holmes garnered accolades in multiple judicial performance reviews. These reviews highlighted his exceptional skills, professionalism and fairness. He was commended for his dignified and respectful treatment of all parties, his efficiency and his ability to maintain a sense of calmness in the courtroom. In the 2022 review, his fair and consistent demeanor, coupled with his strong knowledge of the law, further underscored his reputation as an accomplished and respected judge.
