Atlanta – JAMS, the largest provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of the Hon. Stanley F. Birch, Jr. (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Birch will be based in the JAMS Atlanta Resolution Center, where he will specialize as a mediator, arbitrator and discovery master for disputes in a variety of areas including appellate, IP, taxation, business/commercial, employment, entertainment, environmental, insurance and securities.
Judge Birch served for 20 years as a U.S. Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, the busiest federal appellate court in the country. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Birch was an active trial attorney in private practice focusing on intellectual property and tax matters. He also served as an advocate in commercial and securities law arbitrations while in private practice.

While on the bench, Judge Birch was instrumental in establishing the mediation office at the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He authored more than 3,000 opinions and participated in more than 11,000 decisions. In 2009 Judge Birch received the Intellectual Property Legends Award presented by the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Georgia State University Colleges of Business and Law, the Georgia Research Alliance and the Intellectual Property Sections of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association.
Birch received his B.A. in History from the University of Virginia. He received his law degree and Masters of Law in Taxation from Emory University School of Law.
