Chicago – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. Wayne Andersen (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Andersen will be based in the JAMS Chicago Resolution Center, where he will specialize as a mediator, arbitrator and discovery master for disputes in a variety of areas including commercial, class action, employment, healthcare, IP, securities and personal injury.
“Judge Andersen’s extensive experience on the federal bench will make him a great addition to our panel,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “He has a reputation of handling matters fairly and effectively. Judge Andersen is highly skilled in bringing parties together to reach resolution.”
“I chose to join JAMS because of the quality of the neutrals,” said Andersen. “Over the years, I’ve learned how valuable ADR is and how important it is to find a resolution between parties. I look forward to continuing that practice with the best group of ADR professionals in the United States.”
Judge Andersen joins JAMS after serving on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for nearly 20 years. While there, he played an extremely active role in effecting a settlement which, when completed will terminate the major portion of the 40-year-old Shakman litigation to eliminate illegal patronage in Chicago; a settlement of three groups of shareholders claiming securities violations in the wake of a major merger; an agreed resolution and expedited confirmatory discovery involving shareholder rights in the wake of the then largest restatement of earning in American history; and settlement, through a three-tiered arbitration process, of nationwide sexual harassment claims against a major global employer.
Judge Andersen received his law degree from University of Illinois College of Law and graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in government. He will be honored by the Chicago Bar Association with the Justice John Paul Stevens Award in September.
