JAMS Panelists Honored by the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association

San Jose – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that Hon. Edward A. Panelli (Ret.) will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and Judge James P. Kleinberg (Ret.) will receive the Trial Judge of the Year award from the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association. The panelists will be honored at the 38th Annual Judges’ Night event on May 20.

“We are thrilled that Judges Panelli and Kleinberg will be celebrated by the SCCTLA with these honors,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “Justice Panelli is a highly respected and admired neutral and is deserving of such an accolade. Additionally, Judge Kleinberg has an excellent reputation in the legal community and we’re ecstatic that he is now part of our panel.”

Throughout the legal community, Justice Panelli is known for his ability to cut to the heart of complex matters and hone in on the deciding factors in the case. He is a highly efficient arbitrator and vastly qualified and experienced as a multiparty case mediator who regularly handles high-profile, complex cases. While on the bench, Justice Panelli handled hundreds of settlement conferences and mediations involving all areas of the law and wrote important decisions pertaining to insurance coverage and strict liability.

Judge Kleinberg recently joined JAMS after more than 11 years on the Santa Clara County bench. He was one of 18 Superior Court judges in California managing the Complex Civil Litigation Program. Prior to that assignment he was supervising judge of the court’s civil division, as well as presiding over jury and court trials and discovery issues. The U.S. District Court, Northern District of California also recently appointed Judge Kleinberg to be its first Co-Ombudsperson.
