JAMS Expands to Detroit with Highly Respected Local Panel

JAMS opens Resolution Center in Detroit with four new neutrals

Detroit – JAMS, the largest provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced it opened its newest Resolution Center in Detroit, Mich. The move expands JAMS presence in the Midwest and greatly enhances its industry-leading dispute resolution capabilities in the region and throughout the country.

Detroit was the natural choice for our next Resolution Center opening, especially given the renaissance that’s taking place in the city. We’ve been doing business there for a long time and it made great sense to establish a permanent location. We look forward to making an immediate impact in the legal market with our talented and respected panel.

-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Four neutrals will open the location in Detroit.

Hon. Gerald E. Rosen (Ret.) joins JAMS after 26 years of distinguished service on the federal bench as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan, including seven years as the Court’s Chief Judge. While on the bench, Judge Rosen had wide experience in facilitating settlements between parties in a great many cases, including highly complex Multi-District Litigation (MDL) matters and class actions. Most recently, the Judge served as the Chief Judicial Mediator for the Detroit Bankruptcy case—the largest, most complex municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, which resulted in a consensual plan of adjustment in just 17 months.

Hon. Steven W. Rhodes (Ret.) joins JAMS after 30 years of distinguished service as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan, including a term as the Court’s Chief Judge and multiple appointments to the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Rhodes is best known for his role presiding over the City of Detroit’s 2013 bankruptcy, the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. Since his retirement in 2015, Judge Rhodes has served as the City of Detroit Public Schools Transition Manager, an office created to lead the City’s public schools out of difficulty in the wake of the larger bankruptcy.

Hon. Mary Beth Kelly (Ret.) joins JAMS after 16 years serving on the Michigan courts, including serving on the Michigan Supreme Court from 2011 to 2015. During her tenure with the Supreme Court, she served as the court’s liaison for child welfare and juvenile justice matters, providing leadership and expertise on these issues on behalf of the court to the legislative and executive branches and other stakeholders. She also served as the Supreme Court’s administrative liaison for all veterans’ courts and treatment and drug courts throughout the state.

Clarence “Rocky” Pozza, Esq. brings more than 40 years of litigation and trial experience to his JAMS practice. Mr. Pozza’s background includes complex trial and appellate work in the federal and state courts as well as arbitration before FINRA and AAA. He also has an extensive background in administrative and regulatory proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission, New York Stock Exchange, Michigan Insurance Bureau and Michigan Corporations and Securities Bureau, as well as other state insurance and securities authorities.

The temporary address for the Detroit location is 400 Renaissance Center, 26th Fl. Detroit, MI 48243. The permanent Resolution Center is slated to open in summer 2017.
