IRVINE – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced that ten of its neutrals have been recognized in the 2017 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Eight panelists were included in the nationwide Mediators and International Arbitration: Arbitrators lists: Hon. William Cahill (Ret.); Robert B. Davidson, Esq.; David Geronemus, Esq.; Hon. Edward A. Infante (Ret.); Barbara Reeves, Esq.; Hon. Scott J. Silverman (Ret.); Hon. Daniel Weinstein (Ret.); and Michael Young, Esq. In addition, two panelists were recognized on California Construction Mediators list: George D. Calkins II, Esq. and Kenneth C. Gibbs, Esq.

Following are excerpts regarding the neutrals from the guide.

Hon. William Cahill (Ret.) is ranked as a Nationwide Mediator and described as “impartial, candid, knowledgeable and tenacious” for his work handling high-stakes disputes, including complex commercial matters such as securities class actions, contracts disputes and other business matters.

George D. Calkins II, Esq. is included as a California Construction Mediator with “wide knowledge of the construction industry, spanning public works, commercial, industrial and residential projects.” He is also described as a “well-recognized…arbitrator.”

Robert B. Davidson, Esq., who is recognized on the International Arbitration: Arbitrators list, is described as “smart and very capable” and “one of the go-to guys in New York” for arbitration matters in areas such as aviation, energy, intellectual property and real estate.

David Geronemus, Esq. is listed as a Nationwide Mediator and described as a “respected force” and “terrific mediator” who “can grasp the complexities of any legal matter, identify the strengths and weaknesses of a position, and is able to convey his views in a friendly and persuasive manner that is especially effective in causing parties to move toward resolution” when mediating complex commercial disputes.

Kenneth C. Gibbs, Esq. is featured as a California Construction Mediator. Described as “excellent” for his work on national and international arbitrations and mediations, he is praised for his ability to quickly grasp issues: “as a mediator he cuts to the chase and pushes both sides to settlement by reason and logic.”

Hon. Edward A. Infante (Ret.) is included as a Nationwide Mediator who is “outstanding” and “brings parties together, is persuasive, works very hard to understand the issues and has a good comprehension of the risks.” Clients appreciate his judicial background and seek him out to mediate their complex disputes.

Barbara Reeves, Esq. is recognized as a Nationwide Mediator, though Chambers also notes that she’s a respected arbitrator. The guide describes her as “very smart and hard-working” handling disputes involving commercial, construction, equestrian, healthcare and public law issues.

Hon. Scott J. Silverman (Ret.), who is included in the Nationwide Mediators list, is described as “very conscientious and very thorough” for his work on commercial, construction and employment matters. Judge Silverman was also listed as a noted practitioner in International Arbitration.

Hon. Daniel Weinstein (Ret.), who is included as a Nationwide Mediator, is lauded as a “mediator of the highest caliber who is regularly engaged to handle complex civil disputes in a mediation setting” and praised as “a very smart guy who is easy to work with and who can talk candidly with people.

Michael Young, Esq. is listed in as a Nationwide Mediator for his work handling challenging disputes in areas ranging from commercial matters to employment issues, as well as seriatim mediation of joined class actions. Chambers describes him as a “very talented yet very humble” mediator who “helps parties find a way to settle it themselves.
