Los Angeles, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that neutral Jeffrey G. Benz, Esq., CEDS has been selected to appear on the list of arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s Ad Hoc Division for the FIFA World Cup 2018, which takes place in Russia this month. Benz will be on call for an arbitral panel should any disputes arise during what is the largest and most lucrative sporting event in the world.
Benz joined JAMS in 2016 as a mediator, arbitrator and special master after a career serving on numerous specialty ADR panels for international, sports, technology and entertainment claims. His sports and entertainment background includes five years as General Counsel of the U.S. Olympic Committee. He has arbitrated more than 200 doping and sports discipline and qualification claims, including reporting to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for domestic decisions in USADA v Bruyneel, which was the only arbitrated case in relation to Lance Armstrong. In addition, in 2016 Mr. Benz served on an appeal panel under the Court of Arbitration for Sport that ruled in an arbitration related to tennis star Maria Sharapova.
I am honored to serve for CAS in this capacity. Ensuring that athletes and organizations have an efficient and fair process for resolving disputes is something that I am passionate about and I look forward to being a part of the arbitration panel in support of the World Cup and its athletes.
