New Panelist Announcement

New York – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to welcome Hon. Henry Pitman (Ret.) to the panel. Judge Pitman joins JAMS after serving 23 years as a magistrate judge in the Southern District of New York, including as chief magistrate judge from 2008 to 2010.

Judge Pitman will be based in the New York Resolution Center, where he will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator in a variety of practice areas, including antitrust, aviation, business/commercial, civil rights, class action, construction, employment, federal law, intellectual property, maritime and admiralty, personal injury/torts and securities.

Judge Pitman brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the law that will lend themselves well to serving as a neutral at JAMS. He is a great addition to our talented panel in New York.

- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Before his appointment as a magistrate judge, Judge Pitman was in private practice for a total of 12 years and served as an assistant United States attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York for five years. While in private practice, he handled a variety of civil matters, including trademark counterfeiting, trademark infringement, patent infringement (biotechnology and other technologies), securities fraud, commodities fraud and breach of contract matters.

My time on the bench, along with my experience in private practice, has given me a unique perspective to understand what it takes to help parties come to resolution. I feel that I am well positioned to take this next step in my career as a panelist at JAMS.

- Hon. Henry Pitman (Ret.), JAMS Arbitrator, Mediator, Special Master/Referee and Neutral Evaluator

Judge Pitman received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Fordham University and earned his J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law.
