Hon. Joan N. Feeney (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Boston

Retired United States Bankruptcy Court judge joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, special master and neutral evaluator

New Panelist Announcement

Boston – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Joan N. Feeney (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Feeney joins JAMS following almost 27 years on the bench of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts and 23 years as a member of the United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit. Judge Feeney presided over a full range of cases, including complex commercial cases with multiple parties and conflicting interests. While on the bench, she wrote over 500 opinions in many different areas of the law.

Based in the Boston Resolution Center, Judge Feeney will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master and neutral evaluator in a wide variety of disputes, including accounting/finance, appellate, bankruptcy, business/commercial, estate/probate/trusts, family law, federal, professional liability and real property.

Judge Feeney embraces each case before her with respect and civility, and has built a reputation on her compassion and unparalleled people skills. We are delighted that she’s joining JAMS as a panelist in our Boston office.

-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Judge Feeney has handled hundreds of bench trials requiring oral and written decisions, as well as over 100 bankruptcy appeals in all aspects of bankruptcy law and procedure. In 2018, she received the Excellence in Education Award from the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and was awarded the Charles P. Normandin Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boston Bar Association.

It gives me great satisfaction to help people find common ground to come to an expeditious resolution of business and legal disputes to avoid the delay and expense of litigation. I’m looking forward to continuing to work on bankruptcy-related and other types of complex cases, and I embrace this next chapter in my career as a neutral with JAMS.

-Hon. Joan N. Feeney, JAMS Arbitrator, Mediator, Special Master, and Neutral Evaluator

Judge Feeney received her B.A. from Connecticut College (with distinction in the major fields of French and government) and earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
