Silicon Valley – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Mark H. Pierce (Ret.) to its panel. Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Pierce spent 15 years as a judge for the Santa Clara County Superior Court, primarily handling civil litigation matters. Before joining the bench, he worked for 30 years in private practice as a litigation attorney.
Based in the Silicon Valley Resolution Center, Judge Pierce will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master and discovery referee, handling disputes in business and commercial, personal injury and torts, employment, insurance, construction, construction defects, professional liability, pharmaceuticals and mass torts.
Judge Pierce is strong supporter of ADR and understands how to best apply his skills and expertise to help parties achieve resolution. He has handled cases in virtually every area of the law, and we are looking forward to seeing him apply his background as a neutral at JAMS.
- Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO
Initially appointed to the superior court in 2005, Judge Pierce spent five years in drug treatment court, where he worked with people from all backgrounds. The remainder of his tenure in superior court was in the civil division. He spent five years as a case manager and five years as a trial judge.
I have found that the key to resolution is being able to intently listen to the parties and to encourage them to listen to each other. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing parties work together to come to a resolution. I’m thrilled to be joining JAMS as a neutral alongside the talented panelists in Silicon Valley.
- Hon. Mark H. Pierce (Ret.), JAMS Neutral
Judge Pierce received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and his J.D from Santa Clara University School of Law.
