Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is proud to announce that Hon. Raymond J. Ikola (Ret.) was honored by the Orange County Bar Association’s (OCBA) Appellate Law Section with the David G. Sills Award for Appellate Excellence. The award was presented at the OCBA Appellate Section’s annual marquee event on Nov. 6.

The award was established in 2010 when it was presented to the late Justice David G. Sills in celebration of his 20 years as presiding justice of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three. In honor of Justice Sills’ legacy, it has since been presented annually to a prominent lawyer or jurist who exhibits excellence in appellate law.

“Justice Ikola’s integrity, intellect and dedication to the law have elevated appellate practice in California and beyond. We’re proud to see his remarkable career recognized with this honor and fortunate to have him as a valued member of the JAMS panel.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president

Justice Ikola served as an associate justice on the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, for over 18 years, authoring more than 1,500 opinions on a wide range of topics, 190 of which were published. He previously served for seven years on the Orange County Superior Court, where he sat on the unlimited civil panel, the high-impact trial team, the appellate division of the Superior Court and the complex civil litigation panel. He served as supervising judge of the civil panel in 2000.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Justice Ikola practiced civil business litigation in Orange County for more than 20 years. He handled a wide variety of business and commercial matters, with a heavy emphasis on protecting proprietary rights in system-level software, air carrier access to airports and real property litigation.
