Hon. Pamela E. Loza (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Chicago

Distinguished family law jurist joins as a mediator, arbitrator and court-appointed neutral (special master/referee)

CHICAGO – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Pamela E. Loza (Ret.) has joined its panel. Judge Loza joins JAMS after nearly two decades of service on the Cook County bench and more than 45 years of experience in domestic relations law.

Judge Loza served on the Circuit Court of Cook County from 2008 to 2026, including as a leader in the Domestic Relations Division and supervising judge of the former Parentage Department. During her tenure in Parentage, the department disposed of more than 65,000 cases annually. She presided over a broad range of family law matters and earned a reputation for thorough preparation, a strong command of the law and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to resolving complex disputes involving families, businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

Based in the Chicago Resolution Center, Judge Loza will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and court-appointed neutral (special master/referee), handling family law and estate, probate and trust disputes. Her experience includes matters involving parenting time and parental decision-making, child support, maintenance, business valuations, marital and nonmarital asset division, trust-related issues and interstate jurisdictional disputes. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

“Judge Loza is known for her thoughtful preparation, practical perspective and ability to navigate complex family law matters with fairness and care. Her extensive experience and collaborative approach will help parties evaluate difficult issues, explore practical solutions and work toward resolution. We are pleased to welcome Judge Loza to JAMS.”

In addition to her judicial service, Judge Loza has played an influential role in the development of Illinois family law, helping author the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act Child Support Act and subsequent modifications to Illinois child support and maintenance laws through her work with the Illinois State Bar Association and the statewide Child Support Advisory Committee. She is a frequent lecturer at judicial education programs and a faculty member of law schools. Her contributions to the profession have been recognized with honors including the Distinguished Alumnae Award from Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law, the Samuel S. Berger Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the President's Award from the Northwest Suburban Bar Association.

“After practicing domestic relations law for 45-plus years and working with people from all walks of life as well as high-profile individuals, I am adept at thinking outside the box in order to settle cases and help families in crisis,” said Judge Loza. “I am looking forward to helping parties navigate disputes with care and efficiency.”

Judge Loza earned her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology; M.A. in Hispanic studies from Middlebury College; and B.A. in Spanish and Latin American studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
