Hon. Elizabeth Glazebrook Watson (Former)
Hon. Elizabeth Glazebrook Watson (Former) has successfully mediated and arbitrated hundreds of complex, high stakes, multi-party civil disputes both nationwide and internationally. Judge Watson served 12 years in the Appalachian Judicial Circuit of North Georgia—four years as Chief Juvenile Court Judge and eight years as Superior Court Judge. Prior to her judicial service, Judge Watson served as General Counsel to Pickens Hospital, Regions Bank (formerly known as Pickens County Bank), and to the county itself. She was also a founding director for a national bank.
Since stepping down from the bench, she has served both as a single arbitrator and on three-judge arbitration panels across a wide range of cases. She is well-known for her meticulous preparation and her engaging, dedicated and determined approach she brings to every matter. Her approachable and effective mediation style has made her sought-after for the resolution of disputes involving everything from personal injury to complex commercial disputes. In addition to her mediation and arbitration practice, she conducts neutral analysis, mock trials and moot proceedings, and has served as a judge for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's (NITA) Exceptional Advocate Training Programs.
Widely recognized as an authority on ADR, she has delivered numerous presentations on topics such as selecting the right mediator, advocating effectively in mediation, and avoiding the pitfalls that lead to stalemate or failed mediations. A respected leader in ADR education, Judge Watson has served on the faculty of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada, as Trustee of the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and as a consultant to the ADR Steering Committee for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

- Arbitrated a dispute between major private jet manufacturer and contracted window manufacturers and installers alleged to be liable for faulty installation and quality of windows
- Arbitrated numerous breach of contract disputes
- Arbitrated a breach of contract dispute involving claims of substandard repair and remodeling work following flood damage to a residence
- Arbitrated a breach of contract dispute involving the alleged failure of a remodeling crew to complete renovation services to a hotel property timely and with the quality contracted to be done
- Arbitrated a breach of contract dispute involving the alleged refusal to pay for construction services and materials provided
- Arbitrated a dispute involving interest rates that exceeded the maximum annual rate permitted under the North Carolina Consumer Finance Act
- Arbitrated a dispute involving the alleged failure to pay a credit card debt related to a credit card issued nearly 30 years earlier
- Arbitrated a dispute involving the alleged fraudulent marketing and sales practices for satellite receivers and digital video recorders to the public
- Arbitrated numerous “Pay Day Loan” cases in South Carolina and Georgia brought by individual loan recipients due to class actions being forbidden in the contract

- Arbitrated a dispute involving a national health care company and agents of the company for the alleged failure of payment of premiums due to agents who were alleging years of discrepancies in proper formula to be used for payments of each agent’s sales
- Resolved hospital disputes with carriers, vendors, insurance companies’ reimbursements, liabilities for doctors and nurses, hospital liabilities for malpractice, insurance reimbursements, Medicare and Medicaid payments
Product Liability
- Arbitrated numerous product liability cases such as defective laminated floating flooring, dental equipment, and jet airplane windows, among others
- Arbitrated a product liability matter involving interconnected trampolines at a public recreation facility which required several expert witnesses on the physics involved in dueling trampoline vibrations
Professional Liability
- Arbitrated numerous wrongful death disputes
- Arbitrated numerous nursing home negligence disputes
- Arbitrated numerous disputes involving the alleged failure of nursing home staff to provide appropriate care and treatment for residents with increased risk of developing skin sores and lesions
- Arbitrated numerous disputes involving the alleged failures of nursing home staff to provide appropriate care and treatment for a resident with increased risk of developing a breakdown of skin, skin infections, and skin ulcers
- Arbitrated various medical and nursing home malpractice cases again treating physician and nursing home in Georgia, Florida, Alabama North Carolina and South Carolina
- Arbitrated scores of disputes involving allegations of personal injury due to exposure to asbestos with resulting mesothelioma
- Mediated and settled scores of medical malpractice cases
- Mediated a dispute involving allegations of medical malpractice for a botched breast reduction surgery
